As far as blog posts tabbing is exactly what's needed I still feel not right to have to have 2 profiles.

So would be possible, to make the avatar in CB be the idoblogs avatar also, and to have the blog friends control available also in CB?

Right now I ahve to have 2 profiles , and my users don't like that...

  community builder | avatars | feature request | community | integration | fields | profiles | pro version | cb | plugin

If you want use CommunityBuilder profiles in IDoBlog, you must select in "administrator->idoblog->global
configuration->integration->profile system" communitybuilder.

I did, and yes, now I have CB profile and avatars, but still can't manage blog's friends unless I make visible also the idoblog profile no?

Can this be added to be controlled in cb plugin?

IDoBlog use CommunityBuilder's friends. Delete menu IDoBlog "Your profile".

So friends will be connections then? all? would be have a configurable field in CB idoblog plugin to make possible to create a connection in CB called 'blog', 'idoblog' 'penpals' whatver I like, and just link to the people on that connection type blogs?

Because I may want to have friends that have horrible blogs, and be suscrived to blogs of people I may not talk ever...

can you describe gradually in detail

Sure, I will put an example with my site

I run a gaming site, basically MMOs, so we have people playing differnt games and friends from different parts.

So, let's say we have connections from 'wow friends', 'wii friends' and 'xbox live friends', of these connections, not all, will run a blog, and most important, not all, will run a good blog...

Maybe one is a 13 years old kid, who is great in halo 3, but can't type more than 2 interesant lines... why I should be forced to have him in friends blog?

I feel best would be having a connection type, like '0xbox friends, wii frinds or wow friends' called for example 'blogs' where I suscribe just to the blogs I like.

And best would be the name of this connection type, to be selectable in plugin, as I may want to name it 'blogs' and someone will want to kall it 'penpals' no?

So, step 1: create connection type 'blogs' in CB
step 2: Define in idoblog CB plugin, in the box for this, the name of the connection used in CB to store 'idoblog friends'

Did I explain correctly whaat I mean? I think I made a mess...

Will do some pics in a while althought not sure what help can they be

Basically, current plugin does: connection (CB)=friends(idoblog)

Althought connections can have categories: connection type1, connectio type2,... example: real live friends, penpals, messenger friends...

So right now, plugin as plugin does connections=friends, it does (connectiontype1+connectiontype2+...)=friends (as all of them are connections), this is not good for me, as I don't want to have all my friends, as blog friends.

solution I see? plugin instead of doing connections(cb)=friends(idoblog), doing connectiontypeX(cb)=friends(idoblog), so I would create a new connection type, let's say 'blog friends' in community builder, and in plugin I would specify that 'friends'=blog friends, currenty you can select it, it automatically does friends=connections...

I will see what Images I can use to better ilustrate this

Basically, you want a possibility to choice of one group of friends in the communitybuilder to which could be attached friends from IDoBlog.

I understand you correctly?

Holy crap that is confusing. lol

Yeah Kevin. I think the problem is to be like Myspace. You don't want to have a blog subscription for everyone on your friends list that you're connected to. Alot of my friends on Myspace don't blog, they just post comments and stuff.

Ahhh... now that makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up. =]

I understand you correctly, you want, that you can set up friends that is showing in friends-list? Is that correct?

And that's all?

Exactly, and I think easiest way to di it, is instead of doing the connections=friends relation, doing it with one type of connection, for example 'blogs' and I would like to decide which of the connection types is the one I want to be the one being 'idblog friends'

Yes, I think that would make the CB plugin perfect.

I'm aware of a new issue, that I don't know how it could be adressed, maybe would require tweaking authorsbot CB plugin.

Right now, if you have authorbot on, the plugin that links content items to profile, as idoblog uses a section/category in normal joomla behaviour, idoblog posts, appear both in blog tab and articles tab. Obvioulsy, at least in my site, blog posts are no part of the 'official' site, and should not be considered as normal articles nor appear in article list...
